Pastries’s Weblog

Okay, so maybe this is all a little too much information,  but I’m an obsessive compulsive chocolate fiend. I will do anything for chocolate. If you could wear chocolate, I would! That is how serious it is. So after being introduced to David’s Cookies and their fabulous cheesecake I became a regular buyer. Then they added Triple Chocolate Cheesecake to the list and I might have died and gone to heaven at that moment. Luckily, I didn’t and I was fortunate enough to be able to indulge in this superb dessert treat. Melted milk chocolate on top of a creamy chocolate cheesecake center over a layer of Devil’s food cake makes this cheesecake truly the most craved dessert in my house.

Sometimes I get a bit ahead of myself and like to take on many different “projects” at once. So of course, with my busy as a bee mentality I decided to not only throw a banquet dinner for the towns athletic teams, but I also found it a good idea to take on the task of hosting a bake sale that same weekend. Keep in mind this is on top of my regular schedule, which consists of a day job, a night job, school, and coaching a basketball team. So I guess you can say I was a bit overwhelmed. With the days winding down till the weekend. I was beginning to feel the pressure. I needed some dessert and some “baked goods” for both of the events. Then it hit me, I don’t have time to make all of these, why not order them? Then I realized David’s Cookies is always my answer. I ordered 6 strawberry cheesecakes. I had never had the cheesecakes from David’s at this point in time, but I had faith in them. When they arrived I put them in the fridge. The next day was the sports dinner so I brought four with me and when dessert came around I had them set out. I was a little worried at first, but nobody seemed to have any problems finished them. All of it was gone and I got so many compliments. I won’t lie. I told them I made it so I could take the credit for the amazing cheesecakes. However, when I was asked for the recipe by one of the parents I had to admit it was from David’s. So with one event down and one to go the pressure was lifted. Only would the cheesecakes be as big of a success this time around since they had to be paid for? So at the bake sale cookies and cup cakes where flying, the cheesecake not so much, I think it was partially because its much easier to eat a cupcake on the go rather than a piece of cheesecake. Finally one woman bought a slice and after her raving review a few more pieces started to go. Eventually everyone kept talking about how great the cheesecake was. So I bought a slice myself. Each slice is packed with loads of creamy filling, graham cracker crust and sweet strawberries I couldn’t believe how good it was. Before I knew it the one pie was gone and a woman offered to pay $75 dollars for the whole cheesecake. Needless to say I let her, and I think David’s probably got a couple orders off that weekend excursion of mine.

Maybe eight or nine months ago I had gone through a really bad break up. I know I know shocking, who would break up with me? Anyway I was crying all the time, didn’t want to leave the house, never wanted to eat, always wanted to eat, I was just an emotional roller coaster. For about three weeks all I wanted was sweets. Cake, cookies, chocolate, you name it I was craving it. I was online one night because I had a hard time falling asleep when I decided to order some cookies from David’s Cookies. I started to look at the rest of their products and realized they had cheesecakes. Then fate took over. My eye spotted a precious little caramel chocolate pecan cheesecake and I knew we were meant to be. I quickly ordered it and received it two days later. I opened that cheesecake and went to work. The 10″ cheesecake with clumps of chewy pecans drenched in a coating of caramel on top of a creamy cheesecake was amazing. This mix of cream cheese, nuts and caramel is a true taste excursion. I ate the whole thing in one day. Now I don’t recommend that normally, but in the condition that I was in I had no other choice. Regardless, every bite was one bite closer to healing my heart. In the next three weeks I ordered four of those cheesecakes. It was the only thing that would keep me happy. Eventually my best friend refused to let me sulk anymore and forced me to get over the break up, but I do still order that cheesecake about once every six weeks just because I can not get enough of it!
