An obsessive-compulsive peanut butter eater by nature I always genuinely enjoy a good peanut butter cookie. The first time I had a David’s Peanut Butter Cookie I passed out and was sent to the hospital. You might think I’m joking, but oh I’m not! I had the flu for the last week and my body was just extremely weak. I hadn’t been eating much and was just stuck in bed most of the day. People kept bringing me food in hopes that I would eat, but I was just so tired and felt so lousy that I couldn’t really bring my self to have a taste for anything let alone eat. So my best friend came over after work and brought with her a tin of David’s Peanut Butter Cookies, because obviously she knows my addiction to peanut butter. So for some reason my feeble body couldn’t resist at least a bite of cookie. She had placed them on my kitchen counter so I got up from my living room couch and moped over to the counter, opened the tin and grabbed a beautiful cookies. I took a bite of the savory cookie with all of its Reese’s Peanut Butter glory and felt overcame with joy. Either that or I became light headed. So I headed back to the couch my cookie in hand and before I made it there I apparently passed out. I woke up later in the hospital. They say I passed out from dehydration; I have a feeling I passed out from how incredible that first bite of cookie was. Needless to say when I started feeling better the only thing on my mind was some David’s Peanut Butter Cookies with Reese’s Chips.

{May 28, 2008}   Chocolate Nuts!!!!

I have a thing for chocolate and nuts, together preferably but alone is fine too. Generally I tend to go for things like chocolate covered nuts or candies with the two, but something that I absolutely cannot get enough of are David’s Cookies in the Macadamia Chocolate Chunk and the Pecan Chocolate Chunk. The perfect amount of rich chocolate with the tender nuts is absolutely addictive. I have a really close friend who has the same passion for chocolate and nuts and she swore she found the best cookies ever combining the two. I knew she didn’t because David’s is by far the best, but I let her think she had. So she comes over one night to study for our real estate exam and I have a plate of David’s cookies in both flavors. After she had two she looked at me with a kind of funny face. I asked what the problem was and she said, “These cookies are out of this world! I didn’t know you baked.” I laughed and said, neither did I! She was so confused. When I explained that I got both cookies from David’s Cookies she freaked. She couldn’t believe that these home made tasting cookies were really from a company. After we went through almost an entire tin of cookies we stopped. Now the two of us send each other a tin of these amazing cookies every month without fail. I send her Pecan and Chocolate Chunk and she sends me Macadamia and Chocolate Chunk, then naturally we sway a couple.

Some things are just meant to go together. Peanut butter and jelly, ham and cheese, french fries and Frosties (umm maybe that is up for debate) but regardless another match is orange and cranberry. So when I was at an early morning get together to discuss vacation plans with some of my long time friends and I saw the shiny red David’s Cookies tin, naturally I got very excited. For some reason I anticipated a tin full of chocolate chunk, but when I was greeted by the beautiful scent of orange and cranberry as I approached the display my heart skipped a beat. I have a passion for these sweet and tart cookies. They are hearty and chewy and so full of the perfect mix of flavors that I took a little plate with two cookies and I then pulled a really classy move. I took two more and slipped them in my purse. I know! Stop judging me because if you had these amazing cookies you would throw away your pride for them too. They are beyond delicious and well worth being looked at as the “broad who steals free cookies”. So as I sat through the entire debate about where we should go this year all I could think about were the two cookies I had in my bag. I looked at the platter and noticed there were no more cookies. So I sat patiently until I could no longer take it. I excused myself and went to the bathroom so that I could sneak a couple bites of my cookies. As I entered the bathroom to my surprise I ran into my friend Liz who just excused herself a couple minutes before and would you know, she was doing the same thing! She too had snuck a couple extra cookies and could no longer wait to eat them. We laughed at ourselves and ate our cookies making sure to leave no evidence behind and went back to our friends. So what these cookies may cause you to lose your morals briefly? Something tells me you won’t mind too much while you’re eating them!

I love the fall! It’s by far the best season. The smell of the fresh brisk air, cute sweaters, pumpkin picking, the beauty of the leaves changing colors, all around fall is just a beautiful time of the year. Every fall without fail I start to get a craving for warm chocolate chunk cookies and milk. Ever since I was in elementary school, chocolate chunk cookies and milk were my survival food. Every Friday in the months of October and November my mom would bake me cookies. Well as I got older the baking stopped, the cravings however, didn’t. Now for someone who isn’t so handy in the kitchen I had to find alternative ways to fix my cravings. A couple years ago I went on a cookie hunt. I tried cookies from various different stores and companies. After trying David’s Chocolate Chunk cookies, it was history for the other brands. I still remember my first bite of a David’s cookie. I was 19 and just got the tin in the mail. I decided to briefly warm the cookies before eating them. That first gooey delicious bite of joy was all I needed. Their cookies were so good in every sense of the word. There are plenty of chocolate chunks among the large cookies and when warmed and enjoyed with milk it brings me back to my childhood. With out a doubt every time fall rolls around I purchase a 2 lb tin of David’s chocolate chunk cookies to satisfy my needs.

sugarI have by far the pickiest boyfriend that anyone could imagine. He is always complaining about how something isn’t right. When we go out to eat it is a complete embarrassment because all he does is criticize everything from the appetizers to the main course to the dessert. I refuse to buy him presents for holidays because I don’t want to get ripped apart because what I bought wasn’t fitting into his standards. However, I think I finally got one up on him. He loves sugar cookies, of course, he usually has something degrading to say about most of them, either too dry, too sweet, not buttery enough. Basically he likes to complain. So I decided I’d be a sweet girlfriend and buy him some cookies just because. I had David’s Sugar Cookies plenty of times and know how perfect they are so I wasn’t too concerned. When they arrived I told him how I bought them for him and he was flattered by the gesture but didn’t look to thrilled because he anticipated SOMETHING being wrong. The only thing wrong was him! He just kept raving about how rich and buttery they were and how they were topped with just the right amount of sugar to make them the hands down perfect sugar cookie. He even talked about how they looked perfect, “they are baked to the perfect golden color,” he  really wouldn’t stop talking about them. Then when the tin was gone, he went through a 2 lb tin in two days, he just wouldn’t stop talking about when we would get more of what he called his “heaven sent cookie”. It’s nice to know David’s can please EVERYONE.

My all time favorite cookie for life is Macadamia White Chocolate. There’s no story behind it. I’m sorry. I just love white chocolate and macadamia nuts. I’m not very picky about this type of cookie. However, when I have a choice it is hand down David’s Cookies. Their Macadamia White Chocolate Chunk are pure ecstasy. Their large rich chunks of white chocolate offset by the crunch of their ripe macadamias resting in the buttery cookie cannot be beat. I dream about these cookies. If I had more to say, I would, but words cannot come close to the brilliance of these cookies. Bottom line: Treat yourself to David’s Cookies Macadamia White Chunk now!

mm cookiesI coach 9 & 10 year old girls basketball for the recreation department in my town and when they asked me to hold a clinic for children ranging in age from 6-12 I said of course, why wouldn’t I? I love kids and basketball. They also mentioned I should probably supply a snack. Well, this gave me a hard time. What was I going to give 20 kids that wasn’t messy and that they would all enjoy? So after wrecking my brain for a couple days I realized I was over analyzing the entire situation. What do kids love most? Candy and cookies! So of course I go to Davdiscookies.com and order a 2 lb tin of their M&M Cookies. The bright colorful candy on top of the cookies would be sure to grab their attention. Not to mention I would definitely get some quiet time while they indulged their little hearts in the yummy cookies topped with sweet hard shelled melt in your mouth chocolate. So the clinic came and when we had our break I pulled out my red tin and when I opened the tin I heard a large roar of “whoa”. They all ran up to me their eyes wide with excitement. I handed out the cookies and got about 3 minutes to myself. They were all so happy and excited about how good these cookies were. I can’t lie, I even snuck one myself, and you know what? They were fantastic! Definitely NOT just for kids.

I’ve worked in the food industries since I was 15 so as you can imagine I’ve seen a lot. My family owned a bakery for the first half of my life so I’m pretty familiar with sweets. I’ve had cookies upon cookies, flavor after flavor, nothing really excites me anymore. Well as I was ordering a 2 lb tin of assorted cookies to congratulate my cousin on graduating high school I had happened to come across the flavor Cherry w/ White Chocolate Chip. Now, though I’ve had many white chocolate cookies and even some cherry cookies, I’ve never had a cookie quite like this so I thought to my self, “self, I should probably break my diet and order a 2 lb tin of these cookies just for me,” and that is exactly what I did. Now when I received these cookies I was a little apprehensive to get my hopes up before trying them but let me tell you, I’ve never been so pleasantly surprised. These fresh baked cookies were so good, the slight tartness of the dried cherries with the melt in your mouth sweetness of the white chocolate were well worth indulging in. I loved them so much I order another tin to bring to work. Naturally at first people were a little disappointed that I didn’t bring a tin of good old-fashioned chocolate chip cookies in. However, within twenty minutes the cookies were gone and people could stop talking about how good they were. I must say from this day on I do have a favorite cookie flavor and brand and that is David’s Cherry w/ White Chips cookies.

butterscotch pecan cookiesThe other night when it was –12 degrees I was walking home from the store because it was too cold for my 1994 Geo Prism to turn on. I had bought ingredients to make some of my favorite Butterscotch Pecan cookies, a recipe handed down from my grandmother. Well, you can imagine how I felt when I got home to find my gas oven was not working. As a working student I don’t have the money to buy a new stove. So that night as I dreamt about the taste of cookies in my mouth I was awoken from a brilliant thought. David’s Cookies! I always buy their amazing brownies and rich cakes online, but never bought cookies because I’ve had my own recipe. Well, I ordered the cookies and when they arrived two days later I almost lost all my senses to how perfect these cookies were. The crunchy pecans in the buttery goodness of the cookies were to die for. They were so good I ate three in one sitting, not an easy job due to the large size of each cookie. Needless to say I’ll never need my recipe again now that I’ve been blessed be the greatness that is David’s Cookies.
